Accredited Art Schools
If you are looking to attend a four year institution and receive a degree, there are many great accredited art colleges out there that teaches solid foundation of representational art.
One must keep in mind though, most art colleges doesn't have a major that is solely focused on representational art, but there still ARE a few that do focus entirely on it. Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Connecticut, and Laguna College of Art in California being among the few that focuses only on representational drawing, painting, and sculpture while offering the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
In most accredited art colleges, the illustration major will focus the most on the representational art, but you would still need to take a lot of other irrelevant required classes such as, lettering, graphic design, computer courses, etc., and would need to do a lot of homeworks on those fields as well. So if you want to just pursue representational drawing, painting or sculpture and also want a degree, look for the colleges that are based on that field. But most of the reputable accredited art institutions have great instructors that teaches the representational.

Non Accredited Institutions/Classes/Ateliers
If you really wish to just draw, paint, or sculpt without caring about receiving the degrees, we recommend that you look into the non-accredited institutions that offer such classes.
These days, the ateliers are very popular for their teachings of the academic realist style. Most of them use a lot of measuring systems, whereby a student would close one eye and learn to measure what they see using such tools as the plumb line, or the pencil to try and most accurately lay down what they see in front of them. Many of the ateliers today focus on the use of a method called, sight size, where one would set up their drawing or painting surface so that the subject they are trying to capture and their drawing surface would be equal before their eyes.
But even if you are not interested in such methods and wish to learn other approaches, there are many great instructors at many institutions teaching variety of different techniques on figure drawing, painting, or sculpture.Click here to view our recommended non accredited institutions teaching drawing ,painting, or sculpture.
