Figure drawing practice is essential in becoming a good draughtsman. Old masters throughout the centuries have focused their studies mainly on the human form. It is true that once you become proficient in drawing the human form, you can draw any other kind of subject matter. That is because the human figure is the most complicated form on earth, having the unusual variations of shapes, bumps, and textures occuring throughout the body.
