Why I Chose to Learn to Draw People

I chose to learn to draw people over other subject matters because I find the human form the most beautiful complex, and challenging then any other things. It is also true that once someone learns how to draw portraits and and figures well, then he/she will be able to draw almost anything. That is why figure drawing classes are mandatory among all the art institutions. Over the centuries, the masters honed their draughtsmanship by mainly studying the human form and the anatomy. Nothing beats the beauty of a human form.

Well enough of that, here is the video demo of the pencil drawing I did of my friend Moira. Moira has a very distinctive subtle features that made t quite challenging for me to draw. One of those faces that makes it hard to achieve likesses. But after struggling a bit it all seemed to come together towards the end and I was pleased with the outcome. Hope you enjoy watching.
