About the Portrait Artist
Andrew Park is a Korean-American portrait artist with unusually expressive style. He paints with a kinetic energy, painting rapidly with daubs of colors capturing not only the likeness but the personality of his subjects. Park prefers to paint the figures and portraits as he finds it the foremost challenge. Park emigrated to United States when he was 10. He enrolled at the Art Center College of Design where he earned BFA with honors in 2002. Soon after, Park moved to New York to supplement his studies at the Art Students League and the Grand Central Academy of Art. Programs there gave him a more in depth understanding of the classical realist portraiture. Park currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a part time figure drawing instructor at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. Park is a recipient of the prestigious Andrew Rhodes Memorial Grant. In 2002, he has been featured in the "21 Under 31"issue of Southwest Art Magazine and as a finalist for the RSVP Self Portrait Competition. -Jeffrey Morseburg of
